Gregston born about 1854, died 28 Apr 1886. The birth certificate for Myrtle Chapman shows the mother's name as Elizabeth Gragley or Gragby or Gragler. The death certificate for James D. Chapman shows the mother's name as Grisley. The Chapman family bible that Catherine Chapman Woodall (Taylor's daughter) has shows her name as Elizabeth M. Gregston. More research needed to find out which it is. William married (2) 22 Nov 1887, in Butler Cty, KY, Lena Izora BuckBuck, Lena Izora Buck, Lena Izora, born 14 Dec 1868, Butler Cty, KY, died 24 Sep 1934, Logan Cty, KY, buried: 25 Sep 1934, Union Grove Cemetery. 28. James Lewis Chapman born Aug 1827, TN, married before 1852, 29. Susannah Jones born Feb 1827, TN, died after 1900, Logan Cty, KY. James died after 1900, Logan Cty, KY. The 1880 Logan Cty census, Fillmore District, lists J. L. Chapman next door to George W. Anderson. It also shows the POB for J. L.'s parents as TN. It also shows 6 children born but have only found records for 3. Living with James in 1880 were his wife Susan, a 13 year old niece, and 14 year old brother, and a 40 year old widow.
Catherine Chapman Woodall and Marie Chapman (3 May 2000) remember their fathers telling stories about James Lewis coming from TX in a covered wagon. He and Susannah may have gone to TX and moved back to either TN or Butler Cty, KY for some unknown reason. It may be that the 3 children I haven't found names for were born in TX and not KY and possibly before William Wiley since he was born in Butler Cty.
