Meet our Publicist: Phyllis LaShell "Shelly" Chapman

Her Chapman roots date securely back to her great-grandfather Andrew Spitzer Chapman, who was born 01 January 1852 (or 1854) in Licking County, Ohio. He is believed to be the son of Samuel Chapman and wife Polly Jones. To date, she has no information on Andrew's siblings as her grandfather, Jesse Chapman was the last born of ten children and died before she became interested in her roots.

Shelly has been busy preparing a press release that will be sent to all the state genealogical associations and a number of newspaper columnists. This effort will be combined with a request for a mention of the Chapman Family Association in their respective publications.

Shelly feels that "as a newly formed family association, we need to publicize our organization in order to gain new members in the best possible ways." She is very open to suggestions and ideas and agrees with the old saying "TWO HEADS ARE BETTER" and feels it "fits our situation completely." She also wants all of us to "remember, everyone interested in the Association is a publicist...[we] can all participate in the best form of publicity, word-of-mouth."
