Meet Our President, Ernie Chapman
Ernie Chapman is a descendant of the Chapman clan of North Carolina. He tells us he lost track of his ancestors at the point where ancestor Robert Chapman left North Carolina. Ernie has a great sense of humor and shares it as he offers his explanation as to why the trail of ancestor Robert ends...he says, "I think he left and didn't tell anyone. Maybe he was riding someone else's horse!"
Ernie and his bride Pauline are a very active couple. I've often heard it said, that the way to get something done is to give it to a busy person, well, this may be true in Ernie's case, as he and Pauline are the National Executive Couple for the Methodist Marriage Encounter and, as you already know, Ernie volunteered to head our association.
For his family research records, our President will be using the Brothers Keeper computer software. He is not available on-line and most likely won't be. He reluctantly uses Windows in his 486DX IBM comparable, but prefers DOS based programs. He has a modem/fax and is told that both work, but he doesn't believe in the fax. Says, "it may be a mythical animal."
He asks all of us to "be patient if letters/questions aren't answered," as he either doesn't have an answer or simply missed the document in his bulging Chapman Family Association file!
As a writer, I find his humor refreshing and know it will keep all of the ten members of our first Board of Directors relaxed as we work diligently to understand the task specific responsibilities attached to each individual Board position.
As a member of the first Chapman Family Association Board of Directors, I look forward to working and learning along side our President....Ernie Chapman of Columbia, Illinois.
