Biography
NATHAN CHAPMAN II

NATHAN5 CHAPMAN II (NATHAN4, NATHANIEL3, NATHANIEL2, EDWARD1) was born August 27, 1751 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and died September 1, 1824 in Nobleboro, Maine. He married SARAH HODGDON May 9, 1781. She was born October 10, 1763, and died October 27, 1845 in Damariscotta, Maine.

Nathan Chapman II served in the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia in the War of 1812. He served with Captain John Winslow's Company, Lt Col Robert Day's Regiment at Bristol, Maine and vicinity, from June 29, to July 1, including, "the Skirmish at Bristol, June 29, 1814," when a small landing party of British troops was repulsed at New Harbor, and from September 7 to 23." He also served in the same company at Bristol from September 30 to November 15, 1814. That year the war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent on December 24, 1814.
