CARLTON TATTERSALL CHAPMAN

CARLTON TATTERSALL10 CHAPMAN (HARRY ELLIOTT9, THOMAS MERRIFIELD8, HENRY ELDER7, NATHAN6, NATHAN5, NATHAN4, NATHANIEL3, NATHANIEL2, EDWARD1) was born December 27, 1934 in Tela, Honduras. He married GERALDINE FRANCES STRALEY June 21, 1958 in Washington, DC, daughter of ARTHUR STRALEY and JOSEPHINE GRABOWSKY. She was born June 28, 1938 in San Diego, California.

Carlton Tattersall Chapman was born in Tela, Honduras. He graduated from Bordentown Military Institute, Bordentown, New Jersey and attended the University of Maine, Orono, Maine where he majored in Forestry. He joined the US Army in 1955, and was a member of the Honor Guard with the 3rd Infantry Regiment at Arlington Cemetery. He worked at the Pentagon in the Assistant Chief of Staff, Intelligence, Chief of Staff, Army and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He served in the Vietnam War from June 1967 to June 1968 during the Tet Offensive as an Operations Sergeant with the 41st Combat Area Signal Battalion stationed in AnKhe and Quinhon. In Stuttgart, Germany, he was involved with German-American Protocol and was one of the Founding Father's of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Sergeant's Club. He retired in 1976 as the Inspector General Sergeant Major at Ft. Belvoir, VA. In 1976 he worked as a Special Officer for the Secret Service. In 1980 he joined the Department of Army working on Agent Orange and radiation projects. In l987, he joined the Defense Nuclear Agency and worked on the Nuclear Test Personnel Review Program. He retired from the Defense Nuclear Agency in 1992 as a Historian.

His military decorations included the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (7th Award) National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, with Palm, Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, Meritorious Unit Citation, 2 Overseas Service Bars, the Germany Army Marksmanship in Bronze, Certificate of Recognition - Cold War, Defense Nuclear Agency Director's Career Achievement Award and numerous civilian Outstanding Performance Awards.
